WhatsApp will discontinue support for Android Gingerbread and iOS 8 from next year

WhatsApp messenger developers have announced that they will not soon support their application on older operating systems.

What is known

Starting January 1, 2020, the messenger will stop working on devices with Android Gingerbread. Users will continue to be able to launch WhatsApp, but it will be impossible to create a new account or verify an existing one. Due to lack of support, some functions will also stop working. By the way, according to the latest reports of Android Distribution, the share of smartphones with Gingerbread on board is 0.3%. This is about 1.3 million devices.

The same situation applies to owners of iPhone with iOS 8 on board. Starting next year, WhatsApp developers will also cease to support the "apple" application on this version of the OS.
