Microsoft introduced the Surface Duo smartphone in New York. It runs on Android and is equipped with two screens.
The Surface Duo smartphone has a much simpler design than the Samsung Galaxy Fold and Huawei Mate X. The design is foldable, but the screen is not flexible, but with two separate matrices (5.6 inches diagonally each). Details about the specifications of this device have not been disclosed.
Surface Duo is the first smartphone from the Surface line. So far, Microsoft has not used Android in its smartphones, although it has released mobile devices on Windows Mobile and Windows Phone. Despite using Android, the operating system is stylized for Windows. In addition, Microsoft branded applications are pre-installed on the smartphone, including a full set of Office.
One of the screens can be used for typing on a large virtual keyboard. In addition, the design of the smartphone allows you to place the screen at any angle (for example, when watching a video on YouTube).
Microsoft plans to launch Surface Duo in 2020. A more accurate date is unknown, the company has not yet decided on the price.
