Any owner of a Meizu smartphone knows about the possibility of creating a Flyme account, but not everyone understands what it is for. This is a cloud service offering the user several very important features.
Link smartphone to account and remote access
By creating and activating a Flyme account on your smartphone, you can open full access to the system (Root- superuser rights) and securely link your phone to your account. For example, having lost a smartphone, you can block it, thus the smartphone will turn into a brick, since a reset with data cleaning or a flashing is not able to unlock it. This will keep your information private. In the same way, you can simply delete all data from the phone. This function is enabled in the settings (Accounts->My flyme.>Phone Search->activate the function).
Data Sync and Root Rights
Activating a Flyme account allows you to synchronize data such as contacts, notes, calendar, messages, call history, text input method, browser history, blacklist of contacts of the phone book and email client, as well as Wi-Fi and VPN data. This will allow you not to lose personal information and easily transfer it to the new Meizu smartphone. You can enable synchronization in the settings (Accounts->My flyme.>Data synchronization).
In addition to data synchronization, after the account is activated, it will be possible to open Root rights in one tap. This feature should please advanced users. To open Root access in Meizu smartphone go to Settings->Accounts->my flyme-> Your account.>Open access to the system.
After this setting, the smartphone needs to be rebooted and Root rights will take effect.
Smartphone search, location
If your Meizu smartphone was lost or stolen, and you are the owner of the Flyme account, and of course activated the smartphone search function (Accounts->My flyme.>Phone Search->If you activate the function), you will definitely take the chance to find the attacker. To do this, there is a branded Meizu application called Phone Finder, which can be downloaded from the Google Play Market, as well as in the Chinese AppCenter. The application is available only for android devices.
By launching Phone Finder, you will be asked to enter the Flyme account username and password. The application will track the location of the smartphone if the settings for sending geodata are turned on (Settings->Location). You can send a text message and an audio siren to the device, take pictures from the front camera, block the smartphone, or delete all information, including photos and videos, as well as installed applications. In addition to the application, you can search for a smartphone through a browser from any computer by opening the cloud.flyme.cn website. Information on the website is displayed only in Chinese.
PLEASE NOTE: the Flyme synchronization function has been disabled in the global firmware since the 5th version of Flyme due to the manufacturer making server equipment designed to work in the international segment.
